Tour Highlights
It was a great experience, but definitely not an easy one to manage. 4 weeks, 12 partners, 3 ACE events, 1 meetup, and a 2-day cruise might seem straightforward but factoring in logistics and unexpected challenges made it much more complex—and all the more rewarding and memorable! Here are some insights and tips for anyone planning a similar trip or tour:
-
Plan in Advance: Secure meeting schedules and finalize the program well ahead of time.
-
Double-Check Travel Connections: Flights between cities can save time, especially in countries like Germany where trains, while reliable, can sometimes be delayed or canceled. Always have alternative routes ready.
-
Allow Travel Buffer Days: Leave at least one day between meetings to account for unforeseen travel issues, like canceled trains or long transit times.
-
Have a Plan B: Ensure a backup speaker is available in case someone falls ill or cannot attend.
-
Be Flexible: Adapt your presentations to suit different audiences and user groups, and be prepared for last-minute changes.
-
React Quickly: Being flexible means acting fast—like renting a car and driving 7 hours from Dresden to Cologne to ensure you don’t miss a morning meeting. I did it. Was it exhausting? Absolutely. Was it worth it? Totally!
-
Talk About Your Tool: Be ready to share your product’s story multiple times—it’s rewarding but takes energy.
-
Take Care of Yourself: Get enough sleep, take vitamins, and eat as healthily as possible, even if your only option is pizza.
-
Recharge When Needed: Decide if you want to spend your weekend relaxing on-site or traveling home to connect with loved ones—it depends on what energizes you most.
-
Stay Positive: Whatever happens, keep a good attitude—it makes all the difference.
-
Rely on Your Team: Ensure you have colleagues who can help with travel arrangements, flight bookings, and accommodations.
Navigating challenges like these while keeping the momentum going isn’t easy, but with proper preparation and the right mindset, you can turn it into a memorable and successful journey.
